The study pack contains 36 frames of the animation cycle with key frames, breakdowns and inbetweens clearly labeled plus one guide/explanation frame.
There is also an animation chart for those of you that would like to practice drawing in-betweens and breakdowns in order to
enhance your abilities and learn more about animating.
There is a PDF guide with instructions on how to utilise the pack as well as an outline of the basic principles of a quadruped walk. Detailed instructions on how to read write and follow the animation chart are also included.
The frames can be imported into any software programme or printed out and taped onto paper for the more traditional user.
Crosshairs have been placed on each frame to aid and assist with the proper alignment of each frame in such scenarios.

How to use the Horse Walk Cycle Animation pack effectively

Import the frames into your chosen animation software and immerse yourself in animation information. The revolutionary process of the AMB Animation study packs combines the practical and technical process into a seamless creative flow that will guarantee that your brain will absorb and process information must faster.

You are encouraged to interact practically with the information given to you through the drawings and notes. Also because you are scrubbing through the frames in your timeline you are watching the animation play out before you and zoning in on each point as you read. You can take advantage of this process to even greater effect if you lower the opacity of the images and trace them as you read.

Do not trace the entire frame one after the other as a clean-up or tracing exercise. Focus on one section in accordance to the notes referring to it. For example if a set of notes are explaining what is happening to the head area of the character within a certain number of frames. You are to trace only that area and read the notes as you do so. Then watch what is happening to the movement as you go along. Make sure you understand what the notes are telling you and then continue on until the end of the scene.

Once you have completed one section move onto another section and so on. If you work in this manner on a daily basis you will soon find that everything will truly make complete sense to you and when you go back to the books and videos you’ll start to see things with advanced eyes that you very probably will not have picked up on without having studied in this manner.

Quick Set Up Guide

• Download the pack and extract the frames onto your computer
• Import the frames into your chosen software (it is advised to assign them to their own layer) You can print the frames out if
you wish to work traditionally on paper.
• Make sure that all your frames are correctly aligned. By default your software should do this but if you need to resize you can
use either your own preferred dimensions or the crosshair to align them accurately. If working on paper use a light box and
tape each frame onto a sheet of punched animation paper. Make sure that you use the crosshair to align each frame. It is
advised you use your first taped image as the base reference to mark up your other frames to ensure complete accuracy.
• Once you have set up the frames, either create a new layer on top in your software or place a fresh piece of paper over your
taped reference image. Then read the notes in accordance to each section
• Study one section at a time and do not attempt to read everything like a book eg, frame 1 frame 2 etc. Follow what the notes
are saying and trace the area that they refer to. Scrub back and forth in your timeline or flick and roll the paper to analyse the
movement in accordance to the notes. Trace the section as you do so and make sure you understand everything before
moving on to another note.
